Field starts from an old Railroad bed
The vision of puting a muti-use recreational area in this location was big and challenging. Yet, through the eyes of faithful people, IT WAS attainable. The vision began with a vast cluster of wooded area that had a small path for the old railroad to pass through it. It's beginning (pictured left) was going to be an all out effort to clear and prepare. The land itself offered some challenges of it's own....

Facing tremendous hurdles
"....and the land would indeed offer the challenge. After the land was cleared monsoons of rain and drainage came into play. There lay the land, but under water (pictured right). The challenge and plot thickens. The vision remained the same. Men dedicated to making a dream come true were constantly at work. At this point the men had to begin thinking of ways to divert the water. What exactly would follow?....

....The vision of our men never wavered. Led by Jerry Brown (pictured left) would lead the field in overcoming the obstacles. What interupted the challenges were man, machine, and creative efforts to secure the land. There were many who gave a hand in the effort, yet a small group of men would see it through to the end. A project that had the makings of a 2 year effort was done quickly thanks to these dedicated men.

....One thing that kept these men motivated was the fact that this vision would someday become a place where both young and old would gather for fellowship, laughter, and times that would forever be embeded in the memories of all those who took a part in this great place....

The Field takes shape

....the challenges that were, became challenges of the past. The water was diverted, pipes were added, the land was secured. This would be only the beginning of great things to come. But I can say, "From the top of this page to bottom is truly a 'Field of Dreams' come true."
